Tommy Crook, Scott Musick, Leo Jones

Tommy Crook
|
To say Tommy Crook is a remarkable player would be a gross
understatement. More like incomparable, unsurpassed and peerless. But words fail
to describe accurately the magic that is Tommy Crook. To hear him play is to
understand that magic. |

Attend end Edison High in Tulsa where he had
the opportunity to play in the state and national award winning Stage Bond band
directed by Mr. Ashley Alexander. |

I first saw Tommy Crook in 1964. I was just out of the Navy and shopping for a new guitar. Tommy was in the store at the time; he picked a guitar off the rack and played 'San Antonio Rose' like I'd never heard it before. I bought a guitar and began to play in some local western swing groups. In 1999, I saw Tommy for the second time at a bookstore gig he was playing. We became good friends and Tommy allowed me to sit in with him, first on guitar and later on bass. Through my association with Tommy, I have appeared at many local venues including the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in Muskogee. I have also met and performed with other local musicians including the late Bunky Harper, Bob Cobb, John T. Wills, Steve Ham, Bill Crosby, Sonny Gray, Earl Clark, Roger Hale and many others. When I am not babysitting my 15 month old granddaughter, Addison, I usually spend time in my studio working on an album of western swing songs featuring the ukulele. |
