Terry began playing the guitar at age nine. His older
brother exposed him to Bob Dylan, Santana and other music pioneers of
American pop music. Thinking music would be a tough career he went to
college to study marketing. After two years he ended up on the road with a
country music group, playing throughout the Midwest.
Returning to Tulsa he started “Terry and the Hot-Tubbers.” The group was a
rowdy blues and rock quartet that garnered a large following. Terry left
the music business for awhile, becoming a sales rep for an advertising
company and a credit manager. But, his love for music was too strong. He
left that job to join a new band called “Freakshow” that quickly rose to
the top of the Tulsa music scene.
Terry is currently teaching guitar at his own studio in Tulsa and
recording a CD of original music under the moniker “The Reverend T. Funk
and Joyride.” He occasionally plays with a rock quartet called “Zombie
Zoo.” He hopes to be in the studio with that group soon.
Terry has been fortunate to travel to Thailand and hopes to return for
regular visits. He is a supporter of “Project Thailand,” a group dedicated
to the preservation of Thai culture. He is currently studying the Thai
language.
